The owl that lives underground — the burrowing owl.
The burrowing owl is a species that I’m very familiar with. I’ve worked with them from a conservation/scientific aspect going on four years now. Burrowing owls are a small owl, only about 9 inches tall, that nest and take shelter underground. These are usually burrows dug by other animals, but burrowing owls often resort to a variety of other shelters or even dig their own in certain habitats. These little sandy fluff balls are my favorite owl to date.
